i would not mill the head as with more people will tell you. if you are going to have the motor out and you are going to have it apart anyway, put some good pistons because that is the best thing that you could do. go ahead and port match the ports. bumping the compression (use pistons!) will allow you to take full advantage of the vtec head. without them, it will make only a slight difference. with them, it should take a few tenths off your time. put your money into compression first, then do the port and cams by either on a non vtec head or use the vtec.

Re: Milled Ls/vtec head? (ho focker)
Do not mill the head, as HO F. said.... Just get higher compression pistons, even is you don't do ls/vtec.... Milling WILL create create HP by bumping up the C/R, but if done incorrectly, will damage the head and a head cannot be un-milled....
You can go with GS-R 10:1 or even the domed B16 pistons in a B18 block.... or aftermarket.....

I have an ls/vtec in my '94dx hatch. Has a b16 head(milled .033) and ITR cams. If you go with hotter cams than this, yes, you may run into valve/piston clearance issues. My set up is exactly as you described w/ a test pipe, slicks, and a Field's vtec controller. Here's the timeslip: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewP...p=52654830&f=0
I've had great fun w/ it and has not given me any problems whatsoever.
Let me know if you want the motor. Here's a pic: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewP...p=53153176&f=0

Re: Milled Ls/vtec head? (kikkoboyie)
I had my block built with ITR pistons and I am using a B16 head portflow milled the head 40 thou and the car is using a CTR intake cam and a ITR exhaust cam. There is nothing wrong with milling the head just as long as it is done by a professional and it is not done to much. The best thing to do would to build the bottom end and have the head all stock with your cams you are gonna use in it. Have the head sperate from the block and place clay in the cumbustion chamber, then place the head on the block and turn the cams. After this has been done you will be able to figure out how much milling can be done.
