Mid-Engine, RWD CRX w/K20
I have been documenting my progress over at clubrsx.com, but I figured I'd give everyone over here a peek at what I have been up to. Basically its a 1984 CRX that I tube-chassied, and put a K20a2 in the rear of the car. It is vaguely similar to the other mid-engine prelude, although mine is designed for race first, street second. I am building a website for it at http://www.rwdcrx.com, but you can see photos at http://www.rwdcrx.com/Albums. Let me know what everyone thinks!

Weight: 1200 lbs (without driver)

I'm jealous dude, the only thing cooler than a RWD CRX would be an AWD CRX
What is the projected final weight?
How much of the original CRX suspension geometry did you leave intact?
Just HOW fun is it exactly?

what will help to compensate for oversteer, i have seen the delsol like this and saw it try to turn and it looked like it was having trouble doing 15mph turns.
project is kickass, mad props, but this is a thought to be concerned about

Understeer is a big problem. right now, the front end does want to push out unless I brake aggressively into a corner. for now, the car has a stock front swy bar, but no rear sway bar. This was to help keep traction on the launch, however, I may make a quick disconnect for a rear sway bar to help this issue. I could ballast the front as well, but I am trying to avoid additional weight.

the heaviset largest thing i could think of to put up front would be the gas tank?? i have seen something similar but not with that motor, and thats what they did. it was an NSX in a 2nd gen crx rear motor, rear drive.
it worked out okay for them, but the car could pull some fatt wheelies no matter what you did!

I did mount the fuel cell in front, but its only 5 gallons. the best place i could fit the battery was behind the driver's seat. Im gonna look into the wide-body kit, but im still looking into have a one-off body made.

did u put the radiator up front? might help a little along with a reaaaly good cooling capacity. heavier wheels might help a bit too? I noticed the steelies. could also go with wider wheels...try truck steelies you can go to diamondracingwheels.com i think is the site and have them made custom and weigh quite a bit wouldnt this car be considered more of a rearengine not mid? did i read that wrong?
fyi awd 84-87 crx's arent that hard to make everything is pretty muchdirect bolt on from the awd wagon cept the driveshaft which is a cheap fab.
good luck with the car you should join http://www.redpepperracing.com
