Default Mid engine CRX

I enjoy building cars for the challenge, some of my prevous works include this old Mercedes I found in a barn in West Virginia

I used a Corvette driveline and installed a 427 Chevy

I radiused the wheel wells and complteted some body work

and I finished the car out with a hood scoop and some racing strips

I have worked on Honda's all my life, starting in 1968 on the motor cycles

I have to trust my work with my life This is me when I was a kid

Now I take it easy and work on some unusual stuff, just to see how things work
The mid engine CRX is a test bed I am using to develop an understanding of temperature control working with Turbo's, and fuel injection experiments

This is an 87 CRX with a 300 zx turbo engine, cradled in a 85 Maxima front end and driveline.

the intercooler and oil cooler are cooled from the roof

Turbo air was brought in form the side

the gas tank doubles for the front air scoop behind the radiater, venting air up through the hood

I hope ya like it
Bill

Hey Bill, Great work!

Can't wait for your next update.

I've been trying to figure out how to display thumbnails in the post with links to the larger pictures. How do you do it?

Great work ! Why did you use the 300z motor though? what a POS. We are currently doing an engine swap into a porche 356... Either some mid mounted honda motor or a Subaru STI awd drivetrain.. RWD crx's are great!

they are cheap, fast and plentiful, around here a 300 zx turbo motor runs $400. bucks, I got $200.bucks in the CRX, $150 bucks in the maxima that I cut the front end out of, and $400 bucks in the 300 ZX engine.
their have been a lot of engine builders spend time on the injection systems and internal parts, I can find anything I want for the engine, in my opinion, the V30GT is the import mans small block chevy, they are just like ********, everybody has one.
I also had a 2.0 turbo in a Eclipse I thought about using ,but I built a bell housing to covert that to rear wheel drive using a W56 trans out of a supra to use in a 1/4 miget for some friends.............but you know? there aint no substitution for cubic inches >;o)

Contact Aaron @ Pure Tuning, he should be able to help you out. The only other place I know of in town that does Bosch service is on Sylvania Ave. and they may only do diesel.
