Default LS/VTEC with PCT Pistons. Yes or no?

Hi all!

Just ran into a hiccup with two pistons on my LS/V setup and looking for a quick solution.

I am in the need of replacing the pistons on my LS/V because of a fatal failures on two pistons. I do not want to spend on Wiseco/CP pistons (Not going to race the car anymore) and quite honestly do not think that are needed anyways.

I am looking to drop some PCT pistons, but I am not sure if my setup will allow the dome on those. Any advice/insight on this? Anyone done this with good results?

Here are the setup details:

Block:
B18B1 with LS crank
Golden Eagle LS Rods
Bore 81.5mm

Head:
PR3 milled at .006
Stock size valves
Supertech dual springs and retainers
Skunk2 Stage 2 Tuner Cams

I've never actually seen anyone bother to machine cast pistons for use with a full floating wrist pin for a forged rod. Why do you have forged rods but say "I do not want to spend on Wiseco/CP pistons (Not going to race the car anymore) and quite honestly do not think that are needed anyways"

What makes forged rods needed in an ls/vtec?

The rods were already in the setup with Wiseco pistons (the ones that are blown)! The setup originally was intended for race only and decided not too. Moving to a K swap and that motor to a CRV. That is why I want to get it up and running with what I have. Maybe, I just swap the whole piston and rod combo , sell the forged rods and get a set of LS OEM rods with ??? pistons.

Now, what pistons to get? That is the question.
