Default Ls/Vtec long term use?

Well... i've had my Ls/Vtec motor for about almost a year..... I was wondering how long other people have had it... and what they did to maintain this {beast}. I was also wondering what I needed to do to make this Ls/Vtec safe for a daily driver with Turbo... any suggestions and comments will be cherished

Safe daily driver with turbo? I hope you get forged lower comp pistons, forged rods, block guard, piston oil squirters, and maybe some other things.

I know this guy around me that was about to do the exact same thing. Except he is now getting a b20b block, putting his VTEC head on that, and it going to turbo it!

Now, I am not saying that from actual experience but from what I have heard. Most turbo hondas do need these things. And since you are doing it to an LSVTEC...a motor with a shitty stroke, shitty R/S ratio, and no piston oil squirters, I think those mods would be a very good insurance policy.

Oh, I don't think the turbo is going to like those JUN cams too much either....too much overlap on the VTEC lobes. If only honda would combine a turbo with VTEC from the factory. Damn, I guess they don't feel like being faster then everyone else!

first worry about the oil and water pump if you have that upgraded to a p30/p72 you will have a lot less problems. Thats the first thing i would worry about for long term care.

Around 2 years for me(December), 22,000 miles. All I do is the normal everyday stuff i.e. oil change, tune-up, and so forth. Even drove it from Arkansas to El Paso straight thru and back then 2 weeks later to Fayettville North Carolina and back.
Abnout to put a gen 2 drag kit on and see what happens. Either it will hold or fail, but atleast I will then have an excuse to buy forged internals.

that's sweet... 2 years.... hehe... well yeah.. i have upgraded my Oil pump to a GSR oil pump.. i'm thinkin bout getting better rods and pistons... i'm kinda leanin toward not going turbo... it seems so much more trouble... i jus want something running low 14's daily driven... so far only high 14's...

low 14's daily driven... i would go with all motor. just swap out the pistons and get some head work and you should be in the 14's
