Default LS/VTEC buildup questions...

Hi, I'm hoping I could get some answers to my questions about building up an LS/VTEC:

-I saw on the CR-VTEC page that they added Oil Squirters to the B20 block, how can it be "added" to an LS block, which engine do I use them from (B16, B18C1/5)

-I noticed a company makes a Block girdle for LS/CR-Vtec conversions? How does it work/help? (car will be street driven, and NA tuned - maybe AutoX'd)

-Can I use one from a B-series DOHC VTEC (do they have girdles)?

Thanks

yes you can put oil squirters in a b18a/b block they are the same exact block just bigger bore/sleeves.

on a street driven car you dont "really" need to use a block girdle. Girdles are only really needed if you plan reving to 9000 rpm or higher constantly. I would only get one of these if you build your block, cuz your not gonna rev past 8 on a stock bottom end so its really unnessecary. This i believe is why honda did not equip ls and b20's with them to begin with. If you plan on building your block for for high revs and doing alot of auto-x or top speed runs it would be a good investment for you. You can use a gsr, itr, or z10 girdle. As was stated before the gsr and itr require some modification but the z10 is a bolt on affair.

how safely can i rev with an endyn setup, rods, pistons and a gsr head? Does anyone think i should just go ahead and install a block girdle while i am down there with the block all stripped? This will be a built daily driver and i plan to drag it. I heard you have to use gsr main bolts and a gsr oil pickup with the z10. Anyone used the z10 girdle?

About the oil squirters, do I need to make modifications - I'm not sure how they work on the GS-R, but I'll probably find out when I strip down my LS block, are they a "bolt-on" or something, is there some pressure going to it for it to squirt oil or how does it function. I'd be more interested in the oil squirters. And the bottom end won't be completely stock. I plan on using high CR pistons but not reving over 8 grand anyways (no drag, autoX)

you can rev to 9 grand daily. one of my friends has a b20vtec. with eagle rods, endyn pistons and a modded gsr girdle. he shifts at 9500 on the track and does daily 9000 rpm pulls. plus hes got about 20 thousand miles on the motor with no problems only minor mantinence. if you have the money get the z10 girdle its always better to be safe then sorry just dont use a block guard.
