Ls/Vtec Block prep
hello I am trying to get my LS block in the best position to take advantage of the B18C1 head I am matching. I have a 3-main block girdle. I have the fluidampr balancer (crank pulley). I am getting one of the block guards? I have found 2 different styles. One style is solid with holes punched thrx the structure. The 2nd style is machined with "brace" type outcroppings. Some of these 2nd types have various holes in the outcroppings and some do not.
I will be using Eagle "H" rods / aftermarket forged pistons and ARP connect bolts with a shaved and balanced crank. There will be no oil squirters. I project a 1.52 rod/ stroke (low) but I want to rev high!! So I am commited to quieting the vibrations and harmonics. Is one style block guard preferred over another? Can a creature install multi blockguards- possibly pinpoint where the cold forged pistons are going to contact the cylinder walls and position a guard at that cylinder wall height?? Just a thought. Thanks.
