a little over my head

a little over my head
so, I made the mistake of buying someone else's dream.
and im not the best mechanic.
1998 Honda Civic B20 Vtec Hatch - 502StreetScene
car wont start, its been a lawn ornament for 6+ months now.
it got broken into, hood was stolen, some electronics and broken windows.
car cover got blown off in the snow storms.
so basically its been sitting UNCOVERED for the past 2 months. yay.
anyway, car cranks, but wont start. fuel pump is good, I can hear it.
checked the signal switches on the distributor. lights up and blinks when I turn over. (yellow/black wiring, and the positive side too)
checked the ECU signals to the distributor. lights up and blinks when I turn over. (yellow-green wiring)
im guessing its the distributor b/c the car was running just fine before I parked it. btw, there was a little corrosion on the wiring & screws. wiped it off the best I could.
there is no coil spark.
my question:
what kinda ******* engine is it?
its a td84u distributor
it says tc-08A on the inside of the distributor.
the engine block bottom is b20z2
Im not in front of the car atm, but I have these numbers too from it
1083041
pr3-3 hm
basically im on rockauto.com trying to figure out if its an acura SI and what year. im trying to buy a coil pack (20$) instead of a whole distributor (130$+)
let me know if you need more information, ill be trolling the internet all day.
tyvm in advance!

Re: a little over my head
Agreed. Get some fresh gas in that thing.
Obviously, that has nothing to do with a no spark situation. The distributors themselves in these cars rarely go bad. It's far more likely that you need a new coil, second most liely culprit would be the ICM inside the distributor.
As far as what motor you have, according to the ad you posted it's a hybrid:
Engine / Tranny
-B20 (bored to 84.5mm) Vtec with a B16 Head (off of an SI)
-Eagle Rods, 13:1 compression
-Weisco Pistons
-GSR crank
-ITR valves and springs
-Skunk2 intake manifold
-4-1 header with 2.5" outlet
-GSR Transmission
-ACT Pressure Plate / Clutch
-Lightweight Flywheel
-2.5" exhaust
-tuned by Short Tuning (my brother James)
So, CR-V lock, Integra GS-R crank/rods, Civic Si head.
I'd be really leery of running compression that high on a street motor. It's going to be very picky about gas and about the tune.

Re: a little over my head
ok, that's great and all...
two number stamped on my distributor
td84u on the outside
and tc-08A stamped by the positive terminal
when I go to rockauto.com and type in the distributor number, it comes up with an acura part. acura integra 96-97
it doesn't quite look like the part I have in my engine.
the civic si part looks right. but idk the year.
and for extra difficulty, I only need the coil replacement pack.
also, I have no idea what year the engine is.... what year SI is it?
its dark right now, is there a number stamped on the coil pack?

Re: a little over my head
There are really only two coils for these generations of Hondas, internal and external. If you get one for an Integra 94-01 or a Civic 92-00 (pretty sure even earlier too, but I can't remember off the top of my head) you will be fine. I don't recommend buying the cheapest coil you can find. See if there is a Denso, Beck, or Delphi option available if you aren't down to drop the cash on one from the dealer. The Accel coil is also a good option if you want a little bit of an upgrade, which might not be a bad idea with that astronomical compression ratio.
The factory coil is usually stamped TC-08A.
If the block is stamped B20Z2, it came from a CR-V, 99-01.
The head would be from a 99-00 Civic.

Re: a little over my head
bump
new issue
im having a problem with my civic...
new battery 12.50volts...
new ignition coil doesn't produce a spark
new cap and rotor on the distributor
at the distributor positive and negative terminals I get power when I turn the engine over
checked my connections, couldn't find any loose wires/baremetal touching
car was sitting without a hood during winter snow it started up last week. since then, nothing.
I can hear the fuel pump kick on
any ideas?
