Sup, I recently started to get a unpredictable backfire from my car. I checked my fuel system and it was okay. I took my distributor apart and I found that all the ignition points on the cap where burned, also the black platic that covers the sensors inside was melted like it had taken alot of spark arc. I currently have a msd box and coil. Could the msd box be causing this? I cleaned the points, but I still have a small backfire. I will change the sparkplugs tomorrow. Also I was getting a check engine code 9 but not anymore, just went away but I dont trust it. It might just be that damn sensor.
any suggestions?

i had this same exact problem, ur running ur fuel tooo rich

 

I dont think I am running too rich as I didnt have this problem before. Plus my air fuel guage swings back and forth like it should. I have also tuned this rom with Uberdata and a wideband. I tried a Crome stock bin and still did it.
any ideas as to why the plactic inside the distributor melted? I will post later about what I find today.
