Well, im only going to address the ITR head parts. It will lower your compression to ablut 9.7:1, which sucks, so you are better off getting ITR cams, valvesprings, PandP, and a skunk2 intake mani with a chipped ECU. That way, you will still have 10:1, maybe a little higher if you use a spoon headgasket. Just my $.02, its not worth it to get an ITR head.

i agree Prepare to pay up and wait long if you want to port and polish though. I suggest finding a good working used GSR head and then send it to get a port and polish along with a new valvetrain and cams/camgears. That way you can still drive your car while you wait

What about a B16 head? I've heard they flow similar to the B18C5 head.

B16 and ITR heads are the same casting(pr3), just the ITR one is ported. Again, it will lower compression on a GSR.

yeah if you got a spoon or mugen head gasket you should be running close to stock compression give or take a few points.

CTR pistons are great with the GSR head. Its like 12.5:1 compression, sweet with the spec Bs you speak of.

just stick with a stock headgasket
and you won't have a problem with ctr pictons and B's

Why don't you just change out the pistons while you're doing the head? Switch to some CTR pistons and an ITR head and I think you'll be looking at about 30hp at the wheels. It's a very good idea. I was planning on doing it, but my tranny went poop..

But yeah, you can sell your GSR head after everything is said and done and make an extra couple of $$$ on the side.

change the pistons ! you'll have better gains then just the head ! and while the botton end is getting done send the gsr head for port and polish .you'll have some nice #'s .

just to give you an idea, a guy i know used a complete itr top end on his 96 gsr block with stock gsr pistons. had every bolt on and fully tuned, put out 175 whp. not bad, but he can make more with higher compression. he was even using the 97 spec itr ecu.

how much would it cost for me to change out pistons? Cause i am planning to change my valvetrain and cams to my head, should i save the extra money and have everything done at once?

screw the itr head. you said you're getting aftermarket cams and springs anyway. the money you'll save could be better spent on pistons
