I'm from the United States of America on planet Earth. Here we speak English or at least some foreign language that makes sense. You are doing neither. What do you mean kit it out? What the hell are you talking about? I can't work with you if you make no sense. Excuse me if I sound like an assclown, but damn!!!!!!!! Clarify what you are talking about here.

From what I can decode from your message, if you are not having trans problems (grinding etc.) and you plan with sticking with the same engine (or the same series engine) you might as well keep your trans or rebuild it. Any other trans you find is going to be just as old. Other than that try to post more detail to your question.

You know what, I really came at you the wrong way. Forgive me. Next time just be more specific and better word choice if possible.

Rebuilding the motor and tranny would take several weeks because of waiting time for machine shops, parts to arrive and all the other delays that might occur.
Buying a used motor is usually cheaper and takes less time to install in your car. If you get the same motor, its plug and and play. The downside is it USED. Although you can get an idea on the condition of the motor throught visual and mileage of donor car, its still used.
No way of telling if it was 15K of total abuse or 80K of TLC.

If your budget is pretty tight then just get either a full d16y8 swap or just get a b16a2 swap. That's engine and tranny. If you are cool with get a non-vtec engine then get the b18b. That's more power and torque than the motor you already have and you are now able to use other b series. If you want spend more money, then step up and get a gsr or type r swap. I don't recommend anyone to bye a b16b. I'm not going to explain why because search will tell you that. This is my opinion on this topic. A single cam can have a lot of potential I modded corectly. A twin cam can do it with less parts and sill be reliable. If you do decide to go with SOHC then there is a thread that gives all of the SOHC upgrades.
If you do go with the d16y8 then get a p28 and convert it to obd1 because obd2 will give you some problems, believe me I know.
