what would be the best way to put a knock sensor on an lsvtec? its an obd1 block. it doesn't have a spot for it and I need it. Would the alternator bracket be a suitable spot? This is going in a 97 civic

What year B18B? If it's OBD1 then I don't believe they came with knock sensors and you won't be able to run one.
What's the reason you are in need for a knock sensor?

yes, why?
they are pointless.

so I can run an itr ecu. I would use a chipped ecu but then I won't pass emissions cause they might hook up the scanner to it. Is it cool if I hook up the KS to the alternator bracket?

hahaha sorry for not being more specific. its an lsvtec. I would rather run a chipped ecu but then I would fail emissions if they hook it up to the scanner.

I don't mean to sound like an *** or anything, but why are you running an ITR ECU on a B18B?
Not necessary.

ohhh ****.
I gotcha now. Good question.
Actually, OBD2 LS blocks have a knock sensor input, but unfortunately, OBD0 B18A and OBD1 B18Bs do not have a knock sensor input.
It would probably be easier to run an ITR chipped P28, or try and have the P73 chipped with the knock sensor removed.

I thought obd2 ecus couldn't be chipped? its a jspec ecu. I would run the chipped ecu but then it wouldn't pass emissions. Here you pass if they hook up the scanner and you get no codes. with a jumper and obd1 ecu, you get no codes at all. atleast thats what happened with my p28.

Hmm, that's the stickler here. You're correct with OBD2 ECU's not being able to be chipped.
I would probably just run the factory ECU then when you go to emissions. And run a chipped P28 everywhere else.

yup thats the plan but I need to install the knock sensor so it can work with the itr ecu. can I just install it on the alternator bracket? will it be fine?

You could, but I doubt it'll function. If you need the knock sensor badly,
I would just hook it up and probably JB Weld the sucker to the rear of the block.
The alternator bracket is an idea, but I don't know if it'll work.
