K20A swap into EG
Serious with the intent to swap in the type S K20 motor into my 92 CX. A few items of concern...
Subframe or not? I can make my own mounts as will be needed.
Electrics - plan to use the K20 harness and ecu, splicing into the car harness and getting the ecu's imobilizer circuit removed. Uncertain about compatibility with the gauge cluster.
Axles - not sure
Shifter - plan to use all of the RSX stuff.
Fuel - not sure in regards to the regulator and return line.
Cooling - Plan to either relocate the radiator to the other side of the engine bay or go to the parts store and pick out hoses. ?
Comments?

Re: K20A swap into EG (PFI pros)
Call Area 51 at 949-472-6320 and check w/them. Someone told me they did a swap in a EG. I only "HEARD" not sure if its true or not.

Re: K20A swap into EG (iC Roger)
When you've found a place thats done one, let me know. I want to see some pictures. Anythings possible, so it can be done with lots of custom fabrication.

If you have good metal and you can weld good, then go for it!!!
I would never pay for someone to do a swap like that.. too much money and labor involved.

Re: K20A swap into EG (Nameless)
The cost factor isn't a huge deal as far as labor is concerned, I will do it on my own at the shop. Welding, cutting, fabrication, custom mounts, etc, are common to me. Time isn't a big deal either, since I've got another ride.
I'd just hate to find a junked car, get everything I THINK that I need, only to sell the car and find that I needed something else that's super expensive.
Anyone ever play around with the immobilizer circuits? Specifically, I'd like to try and integrate it into the EG, using the RSX key, transponder, etc... This might be a huge headache, but I'd like to hang on to the hatch as long as possible.
If anyone has some good pictures of this swap, either into an EG or EK, can you forward them to me or provide a web address? I'll try to get ahold of A51 this week to see how helpful they are!!
Thanks

Re: K20A swap into EG (eghead)
Look in the new issue or Turbo. Charles Madrid did this swap in an EK. It ran a 13.2 on its 1st pass. Its now awaiting a turbo install. The issue has a gold Altezza on the cover. Its not cost effective. It would be easier with a B series motor .

Re: K20A swap into EG (eghead)
Sure, the B series is easier. In fact, the hatch currently has a B16 in it, with a turbo, making 283hp to the wheel...
BUT, that isn't what I want for this car any more.. I have the coupe for the turbo projects (built GSR), and want to have something in there that hardly any one else will probably ever have... Saying that, I'm sure people said that the first time they put a B series motor into the EF...
I will check out that Turbo mag, thanks.

if you want to spend 10+ thousand dollars to make somthing thats not even that fast. be my guest.
i would rather build a b series turbo it and run 11's all day, thanks.
and area 51 has done it in a EK not EG.
