K20A SWAP INTO 1994 EG, VTec Problem !! please help..
Hello, My name is Avi and I've recently made a swap of k20 engine into a 1994 civic hatch, used the mounts kit of hasport, and hybrid racing axles+wiring harness, all rest are custom made.
now engine is running, and car is driving, everything's working smooth, only problem we got is that vtec ain't working, if we run a direct wire we can run it manually, but it ain't working automatically when it should, if anyone can help, it would be great, thanks a lot, Avi.

lol, yeah man.. If ecu doesn;t read temp from engine.. to protect the engine it doesn't let it rev past 5500 and get in vtec.
I have had at least 3-4 people have the same issue. You need to use a bseries temp sensor with a reducer. Also check the wiring....
Since you are using the hybrid harness, the c302 plug, pin 10 is for that reason... COOLANT TEMP SENDING UNIT
Make sure you are counting right on the plug....
It should look like this...

Re: (Nikos)
That's weird because i did a k20 swap for a friend and we haven't wired up the temp sensor yet. We took it out to test it and the vtec worked fine. We are using a stock prc ecu.

The temp sensors for the gauge cluster is different than the temp sensor that the ecu sees.
If you did not hook up the sending unit for the EG dash your vtec will still engage.

I have to go now..
If you find a bseries sensor you can still fit it without a reducer if you cannot find one...
Take the bseries sensor and break all the plastic off
then drill and tap the brass and install the sensor
the sensor is like solid brass
All that is happening is
drilling a hole which removes the factory little wire sensor in the brass then you tap it and screw in the b series sensor

he means break plastic off of K Series sensor and drill a hole all the way through and tap the hole for the b series sensor to get screwed into it.
