Default K20 v.s. ALL

Is there any motor out at this point that compares to the K20? Is there any other motor that takes mods and performs like the K20? N/A of course, like the B18C5 H22 etc etc? Lets leave out the LS-VTEC and Poor Man's R for the sake of picking factory motors.

Hopefully this will not turn into a flop or bashing.

Nope

The ONLY thing that makes other swap better is that you will spent less money on them to preform the swap.

And maybe b-series has a better aftermarket (not for long)

H22 is the closest competitor with the C5 right on it's heels. However, the k20 is a completely new design and makes power like no other.

I dunno...
I know you said no-boost, but....
in a 2000 pound EG CX hatch, you could throw a cheap small (autox friendly) turbo on a D16Z6 or D16Y8 and the car would fawkin RIP... especilly since there is a cheap 4.7 final drive out now for hydro D-Si trannies.

how much is a complete D16Z6 or Y8 swap? = 400 to 700 +boost or N/A mods.
how much is a K20 swap/mounts/etc? = I dont wanna know, its ugly.

Bah, throw in some good pistons and rods and boost that baby to 12psi. That's like 250+hp and similar tq.

rsx-s has a nice motor, but in the rsx... nothing impressive as far as i'm concerned.

i raced an rsx-s from stoplight to stoplight. then on the the highway, the only time the rsx got me was when my car cut off at 120. (stupid jdm speed limiter)

but anyways... dont think i'm hating or anything..

Norcalcrx: What size turbo do you have, is it the turbo that comes with the kit? 15G I believe? Any other mods? 250whp is damn impressive got the d16 on 10psi.

if its power everyone is going for ya the k20 has a very good amount. but to me its like, there is always someone faster and better then you, so you mod your car to the point where it makes you happy. i think a itr motor, and build it up to get my hb runing like mid to low 12s, and iam a happy man

i bet you could reach that goal with a k-series and end up having spent the same amount of money, if not less. plus then you have a newer, more up-to-date motor in your car.

EDIT: unless maybe if you want to boost...

for most of us people that are too poor to afford K20's we concoct all these applications that would meet or exceed it. but stock motor to stock motor nothing touches a K20. yea h22's come close and are a lot cheaper and could easily be built up a bit to meet/beat it... but talking strictly stock, it is the best motor for our civics. DUH!!!! but then again who knows how long these motors will last since they are still new. maybe after 100k they all instantly blow up.
