ITR swap into EG
I havent been on here in a while so yea, i searched a little but got mixed info. i have a 94 eg hatch VX, and a 96 itr engine. which harness and ecu should i run. hack the vx harness and use plugs off the itr harness running a p28 with hondata or use the itr harness and modify the car side with a p73 vafcII. OR am i wrong with both? any links to this? i need to rebuild the eng. so im going to run new ITR pisons and rings omni flat top valves and spring, jun3 cams, just a mild build its a daly driver. what are your thoughts?

Re: ITR swap into EG (EJtypeR)
I used a usdm ob2 gsr harness, or you can use a type r harness, it is plug and play you may have to modify the evap purge solenoids and add a tach signal wire from the distributor. I used the obd 2 harness because my swap I had a obd2 distributor. you can use a chipped p28 so you do not have to add a knock sensor wire.

I think you might have some tricks to figure out with the VX chassis harness. The VX has an extra plug at the passengers side shock tower. This plug has six pins in it. 4 of the pins are for the VXs wideband 7-wire O2 sensor. The other two are for the EGR system. I think you have to move one of the O2 wires over to the largest plug to get the ITRs 4-wire O2 sensor to work right. I could be completely wrong about this part...
But since you already have VTEC wired up, you don't have to add any wires at all to chassis harness as long as you use an P28 or similar ECU (no knock sensor function). Using a US spec GSR or ITR harness will simply plug right into your vehicle and work perfectly. One or two plugs hangs loose and does nothing since your car is not OBD-2.
What you will find is that the JDM ITR motor doesn't come with a EVAP Purge solenoid on it. This means your gonna have to wire up your existing EVAP Purge solenoid to work with new engine harness. I used a GSR harness and had to switch the OBD-2 evap plug over to an OBD-1 plug. The wiring was slightly different, so your gonna have to check & compare with the books from both your car, and the car that your new engine harness is coming from. Then just zip tie the Purge solenoid to to the engine harness underneath the manifold and out of sight.
