Intermediate shaft and half shaft the samething?

I'm to use to Intermediate shaft, but was wondering if half shaft is the same thing?

Intermediate shaft is just that..

'Half Shaft' is the rod part of each axle.

Yeah you are going to need to have an intermediate shaft on your engine, along with a drivers side and passenger axles. But I do think some people call the intermediate shaft a half shaft sometimes.
