idling super low...
my car started for the first time the other night but idles around 300 rpm, sputtering like crazy. How much would a valve adjustment help this problem? reason on asking is tomorrow morning i was planning on doing a valve adjustment and correcting the ignition timing, but at the guide im looking at for the ignition timing it says the car must be idling at 750 rpm plus or mine 50 rpm, so my question is.... will doing a valve adjustment and playing with the idle adjustment screw be enough to raise the idle enough to do a correct ignition timing job? thanks in advance ....
If you adjust the valves too tight it will cause it to idle low and try to die at a light. Adjust the clearances. Then check your ignition timing. Then adjust the idle screw on the TB....if you still have problems, mess with the IACV. If you still have the problem, all I could say is do a compression check.
