Hybrid Swap....First time cranking the motor up....
For you guys that did any kind of engine swap on your cars, did u guys notice anything when you first cranked your motors up and started it? Like say, popping or any kind of unusual noises? I'm sure after a motor has sat for awhile, it might have a hard time starting but what kind of problems or symptoms did you guys run into when you first started your engines up? Anything out of the ordinary? Excessive smoke? Anything?

Well when we knew that we were gonna start the motor in the next day or so, i put a LITTLE oil in thru the spark plug hole the lube up the rings and walls.
Then when we went to start the Starter was fried but after that it cranked right up :-) Was pretty rough for a few minutes and LOUD as HELL for a wile.... (Open header) but after some time it cleaned up and ran like a champ!

when i first cranked up my motor there was smoke coming out of the tail pipe..but after a 30 mile drive...that smoke went away. Had me worried too..but it was fine..there were no unusual sounds that i heard...my car sounded normal.

same here, oil in the plug holes, motor was sitting for 6 months or so...15 minutes of gradually decreasing smoke, and it ran great after that.

i think the reason for smoke is if the car hasnt been runnin everyday like it should have been . It basically just needed to get all the buildup **** out .

I took the head of my swap and raplaced a lot insluding seals o-rings cams springs and more stuff, everything was cleaned but the block wasn't touched. When I went to star it the first time it started imediately after like 3 cranks. No smoke or wierd noises just the crazy rumble of open DC JDM header.
