at least pull the head off and take a look before you go buy another block or make any decisions.

stop driving the car. its as simple as that. if you keep driving it youre gonna need a new block because youre gonna wash the oil out of your bearings. just replace the head gasket, and make sure you drain the oil and the antifreeze and replace with new stuff, run the oil for about a week and change it again to ensure all of the antifreeze/water is gone.

Sorry but how do you go from being broke enough to not buy a 30.00 head gasket to "I am just gonna buy a new block"

If you can't afford to change your oil then sorry but stop working on your car.
If you have serious problems then you would notice that your coolant level is low. Change your oil and make sure it is not watery.

Change your headgasket, that will give you a chance to inspect bottom of your head, water chambers and piston tops/sleeves. You should change your water pump and add new timing belt to list because I really don't think you know enough to inspect those things and if you do then probably don't know what to be checking for during inspection.

I hope the best for you. Good luck.

bump for pics up

my head gasket looks fine to i wouldn't reuse it but it doesn't show any signs of it being blown

think i can reuse my block and head and just get a headgasket?

I dont see how this is still going on, 2 pages.

1. Drain Oil and Coolant.

2. Inspect sleeves EXTENSIVELY for cracking.

3. Install new headgasket making sure no more coolant is pooled up in the head.

4. Refill oil and coolant.

5. Compression test / leakdown.

6. Go inside determined never to criss cross hoses again.

im just wondering.. i didnt notice if this was stated or not...

but to the OP, u do know that when u take the head off, if the car has been started, u are not to re-use the headgasket, no matter how good it looks.?..

i was getting the impression that u took off ur head, and put it back on reusing the same hg... never do this.

ronnie car drove fine like that too.. its gonna have compression just not as much as every other cylinder, but hopefully its not bent and you can throw that headgasket on and be on your way

i put the head on today..while me and my friend were tighting the caps that hold the cams down he over tightened the bolt that holds the VC and it snapped. how bad of a problem is this? is there a easy fix for it so it doesn't shoot out oil? i couldn't get the belt on cuz i can't get to the 14mm bolt to loosen the tension i need a smaller socket so i'll do that tomorrow other then that everything else is good.. i'm hoping tomorrow i can fire her up
