Default how do you id a tranny if the tranny code label is missing?

i purchased a s1 tranny and the tranny code label was missing. just wondering how would i be able to to tell if it is a s1?

well, what kind of motor do you have? there are two s1 trannies. one is japanese, its the xsi tranny and has tight gear ratios. the other is american, its a cable ls tranny. so if you have nice tight gear ratios, then you have the good s1. i think you will know if you got an ls tranny, cause they are crap.
