Default Honda Project

Is it possible to put a gsr or h22a in a civic and run mid 13s for a total project cost (car motor etc) for $7000 or less? The goal is to prove that if you spend the same price on a honda that you'd spend on an srt4 the honda will be faster. My friend shelled out $6,800 for an srt4 and that car pulls! I want to spend the same amount of money and have a honda that pulls harder!

Could be done, might be shy over $7,000 say car costs under $1000 with a blown stock motor, H22 with transmission (or h2b conversion), chipped ECU, headers, exhaust, intake, swap mounts, axles, fluids/filters, slicks ~$6,000. I just googled some H22 swaps into Civic's and they run 12s-14's w/ stock motor, slicks, more of the 12-13's were modified ECU's.

If I could restart my Civic or had a second chance right now here's what I'd do in hopes to get 200-300+ hp or in 12-13's.

All labor done at home with tools already owned, shop work only would be machining the engine and/or all around alignment.
$2,000+-? Purchase a bone stock 96-00 coupe or hatchback 5spd (EX coupe preferably because of 2wire IACV and Y8 manifold)
$800+-? Rebuild a Z6 or a Y8 for low compression or: $1,000+-? rebuild a B-series.
$2,000+-? Pieced together turbo-kit (oil lines, intercooler and piping, turbo itself), custom exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, soldered self-chipped ECU and/or OBD1 conversion harness, run a basemap and then self-tune at track
$1,500+- fluids/filters, slicks, gauges, gas, replacement parts for any existing problems, registration etc;

Very possible but a stupid reason to do it.

hi, still new with the site. but i have a question i have a ek6 with a h22 swap. i was informed that my project car was a fail because of my obd 1 engine not working with my obd2 car because of emission purpose. i bought a eg6 shell and i want to transfer the swap over. my question is do i need to by all new axles, motor mounts , suspensions, full exhaust. or would everything be able to just switch over..???

Thanks for the input guys. I have been doing a lot of research and my brother has been helping me as well. We tried to do the math for a boosted GSR build but no matter what we change the cost is over budget. The N/A h22a build was the only option we could think of. If you guys have any other suggestions let me know. I do have a question about the slicks however. Does the SRT4 run with slicks? If not, why does the honda need slicks to get better times? What would its time be with some wide tires but not slicks? Seems like that's an unfair advantage to me.

Civic or integra w/o motor/trans will put you under $1000, motor could be around $2000 for a h23a longblock & gsr trans, $1500 for h2b kit & exhaust parts, wiring & ecu will be $300 if you do your own harness. If you can't do your own wiring, a GSR swap would be a better idea but a bit slower. The gsr swap will cost about the same. That leaves you with $2500 for the little stuff, tires, etc.

If you went with an LS or F22 motor, you could spend the extra on a turbo kit. I wouldn't go there unless you know what you're doing, but it would definitely give the neon a run for the money.

Well this is the engine my brother recommended. And from this site:

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30018

What do you guys think. Seems expensive but where do you suggest I buy it from?

$3500 shipped. aka half my budget lol

Okay, we have now established that it is possible. I would love to hear some suggestions including links to engines parts etc.

Thanks guys.
