...............High compression Ls Vtec........................
I have had my LS Vtec in my hatch back now for about a year. It is high compression and i have all the boltons, cam, camgears, pistons, bord to a 2.0, ECU rechipped,MSD, and more. The only thing I am not sure about is the nock-sencer. My motor doesnt have one but I was told that it was fast like that but at the same time alot of people tell me that LsVtec is faster with a nock-sencer? Does anyone know really?
Knock sensor....
only needed if you want to put 87 in your high performance engine. Depending on what ECU you are using it might throw a code, if you have a chipped ECU then the sensor is disabled anyway.

Am I correct in this interpretation here?
A knock sensor is well..... a sensor that detects knock.
The sensor is just a trigger to tell the ECU, Hey the engine is knocking. Then the ECU compensates by retarding the timing or making the mixture rich or both.
A higher octane fuel resist knocking. But will not prevent a knock.
If you use a lower octane fuel, and your engine knocks, you loose performance because the ECU compensates by retarding the timing.
A knock sensor will not increase your performance.

So I should add a knock sencer and keep putting in 93 octane and my car should gain HP or just run better. Where should i get the knock sencer put.
Also...
I have a GSR ECU chipped but i still get the check engine light. Does that mean that im not getting the potential HP out of my motor right now as i would with out it?

But will make the engine last longer by letting the ECU prevent knocks.
Use the highest octance possible and tune your engine from there.
Advance the ignition timimg until the engine starts to knock then back-off a tad.
You have to do this on all RPMs and try to find whats best for your car.
you might make a little more power w/o the cel but a knock sensor is not a big deal
and doesn't really work well w/ forged pistons and from the info i have it doesn't work above 5k rpms
