HELP. Slipping belt/air leak noise at startup on B18C.
When I start up my B18C, it sounds like a belt is slipping or like its sucking/blowing in air somehwere. There is kinda of a little squeak too. When its cold outside, it will do it for like 2-3 seconds then abrubtly stop. If it is warm outside it does it for like 1/2-1 second then stops. Its coming from the cam side of the motor and have listened to it, but I can find exactly where its coming from. Again, this only happens when I start it and never goes for longer than 3 seconds. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on what to try/what it might be? I want to drive my car 3 gours north this weekend, but not if this is a larger problem than I am thinking it is. Thanks.

Could just be a squeaky belt. Pick up some belt dressing at an auto parts store and spray it on all your belts except the timing belt and then start the car up. If it stops that just means you have a worn belt.

Sounds like you have a loose belt. Re-adjust and re-tighten them. That should take care of it.
