The Real Funk

Its a 1st gen b16 in a 90 crx hf. I have no codes but vtec wont work. The temp guage doesnt work right either. It will get warm then drop back down to below the C and raise back up all while driving. Should i replace the thermostat? Also should i try replacing the vtec solenoid? Sorry this is my first swap (me and a friend did it) and we are really not sure whats wrong.

Try pulling a sensor like the map and see if it throws a code. Make sure it's not your light. Also if your temp doesn't go up then VTEC will no engage. Engine has to be warm to work. Change your thermostat and see what happens.

are u sure u hooked everything up properly, it seems like you have a poor temp connection.

either that or crossed wires, also check oil pressure...low pressure no vtec

Ok thanks alot guys. My friend works at honda and he just got me a new thermostat. We are going to put that in on friday and see what happens. Ill keep you updated.
