Default Harness Question/Wiring

Just need to know a quick question, I have a H22A that I'm going to drop in my 6gen. hatch I purchased the helms manuals for both the civic and lude. I want to know if there are going to be any wiring problems that I might not see when using the manual. Anything thta the manual wont show. If there is anyone who has done this swap and has any advise before I start so I'll be ready for it when I come across it.

Talk to user "poison" on this board, he's got a lot of H22 swap knowledge and experience.

Thanks Chris

As for your question 98HB,

First of all, your 6th gen hatch is OBD2, and depending on what P13 ECU as well as type H22A you have being OBD1 or OBD2 will determine the wiring issues you are going to have.

If the H22A is OBD2 and the P13 is OBD2 -- you are in luck and can remain being OBD2 since your car is the same.

Another thing that comes into consideration is if your H22 is JDM or USDM. If the motor is US spec then you may also use the H22 harness and plug everything right up.

If the motor is JDM, then you will need to adapt your stock harness to the h22 and add a few wires.

You will just need to wire up VTEC (three wires), knock sensor (one wire), EGR and IAB's.

IAB's (secondary butterflies) and EGR are optional for wiring and will not effect the performance of the motor if they are not hooked up. However, you will throw code 12 (EGR) if EGR is not hooked up. The P13, however, does not look for secondary butterflies, unlike the GSR P72.

You will also need to extend alternator cables to reach the new prelude alternator (since it's mounted in front of the motor instead of the rear).

As for being motor and ecu being OBD1, you will have to conver the motor either to OBD2 and run a conversion harness to the ECU, or convert your shock cabin harness to OBD1, and leave the h22 and ecu as is being obd1.

Hope that helps man. Any more questions, feel free to post up.
