Default H2B h22a7 into an EK4 civic 1996

hi

im looking to do a h2b into an ek4 civic 1996.

The engine i will be using is a h22a7 from an accord euro r. The car is an civic vti 1.6 dohc vtec b16a2 1996 EK4 hatch. It is obd2a, the h22a7 is obd2b.

im looking to use a evolution industries h2b kit. I have an complete accord type r/ euro r donor car. The engine is still in the car but running rough, it is misfiring and engine is shaking, there is low comprssion in cylinder 4 125psi, so going to get it running right before pulling it out of the car.

Could anyone advise me on any common problems that i may run into. The wiring im thinking of suning the exsiting civic obd2a engine loom on the h22 block and running obd2a-0bd2b converter harness with the standard atr ecu or a obd2a-obd1 hraness with a chipped p28 with h22a7 map.

the dizzy on the h22a7 has on one connector, h22 has egr valve, also ive heard the standard intake manifold on the h22a7 wont work for some reason,

any help would be much apprecated, i have searched and found some usefull info but need some opinions or help from someone with experience/knowledge

thanks

ok my question is my civic 1996 hatch is obd2a wiring. The engine which im usiing is a h22a7 which is obd2b. now what engine loom do i need to use on the engine the obd2a from the old engine or the obd2b from the h22.

thanks

You MUST use the 1996 Civic OBD2a Harness...And Re-Work it to work with the H22..You can cut the already Ready Alternator wires from your H22a7 cut it from behind the block and splice it onto the civic harness ...You will need to change the oil temp Wire as well to work with the H22...cut + splice from the H22 harness as well.... And there is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO TAKE OFF THE EURO-R MANIFOLD...THAT MANIFOLD IS GREAT...YOUD BE A FOOL TO EVEN TRY AND PUT A STOCK MANIFOLD ON !

x2!

No matter what engine you swap into your car, its most likely that the best wire harness to use is your original engine harness that came out of your car.. maybe some modifications but you should be using the same engine harness and not the one off the donor engine.. the one off the donor engine is usually used for scrap parts..

The only thing you need to worry about when doing a obd2 to obd1 conversion is the injector plugs, the distributor plugs, and the ecu.. other things may include oil pressure switch, extension of the alternator wires, and o2 sensors..

Also heres what you need to do to make it easy as wiring goes:
1. Use original engine wire harness off of the civic and use the h22a7 engine harness as scrap parts and plugs.
2. Find a obd1 ecu if you plan on tuning. Besides its the easiest way to get pass other unnecessary wiring of emissions etc..
3. Modifications to your engine harness are:
a. Extend the alternator wires by cutting off the alternator wires off the h22a7 engine harness.
b. Change the oil pressure switch plug and use the one from the h22a7 engine harness.
c. Extend a couple of wires such as the fan switch, and o2 sensors.
d. Get a conversion harness if you plan on going obd1 and your going to need a obd1 ecu

who told you that? dude I would totally keep that intake manifold. All you have to do is wire up the IAT and IACV on that manifold. Any engine wiring will work as long as your willing to extend some wires and change some plugs. its really easy

when i asked some tunning shops in the uk they told me you cant use the stock h22a7 intake and will have to get a h22a8 one, thanks for the advice on the wiring. The engine currently is low on compression in cylinder 4 so need to get that stripped down to find out whats the probelm, here the link to my thread if you could help please

why cant they use it? is it fitment issues? or is it wiring issues? either way you can use the h22a7 intake manifold. I dont know what the shop is talking about..

i had the head taken off today and have uploaded some pics, ive been told by the mecanic the exhaust valve in cylinder 4 is not seating properly which could be causing the low compression and shaking, is it better to have all 16 valves replaced and also new piston rings put in as the heads off.

Thanks
