Re: h23/h22 (vteg94)
f23 cranks can only go in 98 and up h22 blocks. h23 cranks can go in 97 and under h22 blocks. the mains are different. f23 and 98+h22 use 55mm mains and the older h/f blocks use 50mm mains. yes, it will increase the torque. the crappier the rod/stroke ratio the more load there is on the walls and bearings. the f23 has a rod/stroke ratio of 1.45:1. the h22 has a rod/stroke ratio of roughly 1.58:1 and the h23 has a rod/stroke ratio of roughly 1.49:1. I would do either one of those setups as long as you dont beat on it day and night hope this helps. the higher the rod/stroke ratio the higher they like to rev.

Yes the rod stroke ratio is lower but these setups can take much abuse. The guys that make the h2b kit have one with h23 crank and rods and beat on it all day and it runs fine. SSR has an 98+ plus block with f23 crank and rods and they beat that absolute **** out of it and it ran fine. On something like that you would definitely need to deck your pistons considerably so you won't have any piston to valve issues. I would say balance your bottom end and you should have no worries going hard on a h23 in an h22a.

Well if your running an h22a block with 50 mm mains with the h23 crank and rods u dont have to deck them if you run jdm h22a pistons with stock cams. Once you start using different pistons or bigger cams then you have to deck them or run a thicker headgasket.
