Default H22A mount kit for ED/EF?

I am perpetually wondering whether someone out there somewhere has made a kit for this swap. Perhaps something that uses a B-series transmission? It just seems like I am taunted day in and day out by the high HP, high torque, and low cost of the H22A. I mean, you can get a changeover for $2000 - about $1000 less than the cost of a B18C5 MOTOR ONLY! Plus, I could ref it in my Civic HB (unlike my B20 swap). The only problem is getting it in there.

You can't use a b series transmission with an h22 motor, it won't fit. Your best bet is to purchase an h22 swap complete for around $2500, check the sponsor forum for details. Then purchase a place racing mount kit for a h22 into an ef from jdmhondaparts.com. You will me smooth sailing from there.

do not buy the place racing mount kit, its garbage. I have it and wish i wouldnt of wasted my money. you would be much better off making your own custom mounts or having someone else make them for you. Its a very hard swap to do, lots of cutting and custom fabricating. if you have anymore questions you can IM me on aim DON7921

There is actually a user on here that has custom fabricated adapter plates to use both B and D series tranny's on the H22. I'm sure if you search or ask around his name and/or some info will turn up.

We keep saying we are going to do it but never get to it. Maybe now that I have the hydro conversion thing worked out.

Is there a certain advantage to using a b series tranny over an h series? The price for a b series tranny is so much higher why even bother doing it. Place racing is the only company currently that makes a bolt in kit into an ef, it may not be easy but its the only company that makes one for the public.

b series over H?b series tranny smaller, lighter weight, more money.
h series over b? h series tranny bigger, heavier, less money, works on stronger motor.
thats what im saying....H all the way baby!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Place racings kit is not bolt in. It is weld in. You have to do some fabrication to the frame rails and more. Believe me its not worth it. I did it in my car that I have right now. Next time I will fabricate my own mounts. I am really dissapointed in the quality of the weld in brakets and where the motor is placed in the engine bay. But when its all said and done the car ripps.

The mounts I made are very easy to duplicate, in fact I have an extra set. But, They are really not something i could send out and produce for people to weld up in their own cars, just because of all the other fabrication involved with getting the motor to fit and they way i built the mounts was on top of steel plates welded to ther car. The mounts themselves are the easy part of the swap.
If any needs any information feel free to ask.

The reason I mentioned place racing is because they are currently the company on the market that produces any kit for an h22 into a ef. HA and HCP both dont make kits for the ef only 92+ cars. Also for someone to make a bolt in kit themselves seems pretty intricate.

Well the thing is...
We waited over 4 months for our mounts from place racing for the project I did.
So after waiting we finally gave up and I built them myself.
And there is no way someone can make a bolt in kit. It just wont work, there is lots of fabrication involved needing cutting/grinding tools and a welder.

because it will bolt up much easier than a b series one.

There most definitely is. Like the other guy said, it is smaller and lighter. But perhaps the main advantage is the fact that you don't have to worry about shifter cables, the hydraulic conversion, or axle concerns. All of these problems threaten to make an H22A swap MUCH harder than necessary. Also, you would only have to worry about a driver's side mount, rear transmission bracket, and probably an adaptor for a B-series intermediate shaft (and transmission adaptor).

Speaking of adaptor plates, it should be noted that Bisi is using one to adapt a D-series transmission to an F-series motor (which bolts up much the same way as H-motors). This may work. But the beefier B-series transmissions would be a better choice for long term reliability in a street car.

HCP has been working on the H22A EF kit and it's actually 80% bolt-in with minimal cutting & welding (no way around it as the EF engine bay is smaller than an EG/EK engine bay so there's some modifying that needs to be done. And the use of Integra axles will be done with minimal amount of angle on the joints. I have pictures of the mount kit in progress and how the H22 motor sits in the EF chassis..... they're almost done with them, just getting slowed up with other projects going on lately.
