H22A engine swap. Wrong Ecu?
I Just got my h22a 5spd engine swap today every thing looks pretty good but i noticed the ecu might be for a auto tranny?...
Here are some pictures i took of the ecu. Would this still work with my swap or should i ask them to exchange it.

It says its converted to 5-speed so you shouldn't have a problem. It originally is a automatic though. Its a JDM ecu. It has a speed limiter that kicks in at about 119.

i remember the limiter being lower then 119. i remember if u downshift to 4th u can still go faster. anyways i think thats kinda shady that they gave u a converted ecu instead of a 5speed to begin with. where u buy the swap from?

i bought it from tiger japanese auto parts in toronto. (im in canada)
Every thing else on the engine looks pretty good inspt for this and the downpipe/o2 sensor
Ill probably ask them if i could send these parts back and see if they give me a new one. i mean i did pay for a manual ecu so i dont see why not

Yea, that is kinda shady. I wanna know were u got it too. Also, I have the same ecu as him, but its not converted. I need to get rid of it, or get it converted.

Re: H22A engine swap. Wrong Ecu? (Sixgundone)
my buddy does all the chipping/ecu conversions for tiger japanese. the ecu should be fine. open it up and see if it is socketed/chipped, might be.
what's so shady about a converted ecu from auto to 5spd? sometimes that is all that is available and we use them all the time with no problems. Not trying to stand up for tiger cause ALL JDM importers try to pull fast ones from time to time, doesn't matter who you deal with or how many times you deal with them. you just have to know your **** and know what you're looking at.
good luck...

It's only shady because they didn't inform him of this.
If I buy a brand new blue Civic, I would it to be blue... I would not want one that was originally black and repainted to blue.

I have that same ecu. Some tell me the converting to manual is simple, others say its not. Is it something I can do in my own time?

Re: (HavokB18)
it's an OBD1 ecu just one extra plug due to the 4ws. only a 4ws obd1 ecu will have the four plugs. OBD2 4 plug ecus use different shaped plugs/layout of the pins.

You need to put your contacts in to help you READ better. Its a JDM P13, not USDM. Like 3 other people already said the 4th plug is for 4ws.

Read my above post genius.
To the original poster i would just open it and see if its been converted or not. If not just ask the company you bought it from if they could send you and "original" 5 speed ecu and call it a day good luck
