h22 w/ p28 Q's
Hey guys I'm not going to install the EGR system on the H22. I need a P28 ecu to do this and not have the code though. So i was wondering if I would need to get this chipped to run on an h22, or just slap in the p28 and thats it? If I do need to chip it though, what do I need to chip it for?

He supplied my socketed/chipped P28 for my H22A swap. $175 for mine, shipped. He goes through a list, and you just answer some simple questions. no big deal.

Re: h22 w/ p28 Q's (PURPLETERROR)
ohh ok. I saw his "ad" on HT and checked it out. So if someone is selling a chipped p28 it should be chipped for a h22 b4 i buy it then huh.
thanks

I ran my h22 w/stock P28 for about 5 or 6 months before i got a wideband O2 and V-AFC.
Ran fine. 14.9 with full interior and sh*t tires. Then i got a skunk chipped p13 and it ran way too rich and was backfiring between shifts. Sold that, put my p28 back in and got the Vafc. From the sounds of it, i guess i just got lucky?

14.9
also consider...
at the time i had 17" Revos with mostly bald Toyos (weighing in at 48lbs together)
my first time at the track ever
I only got 2 runs in
wheelspin all the way through second and a bit of 3rd
PIR's track is not the best for us tractionless wonders(i'm told)
the fact that i've damaged nothing with my naivity

You're right. Not many chips for a P13 based ECU which is what the H22 uses stock. But does that mean that one cannot chip a P28 and run a P30 based code? Nope. Don't spread false information there. Its not that hard to take a P30 based chip and tune it to work just fine on an H22.

You read my statement wrong. I never said p13/p28/p30/etc based codes. I am talking about bins made for h22a (to work with a chippable OBD1 civic/integra ECU). Considering I have seen most on the market, and speak for experience. The question was asking about a p28, not a P13.

Re: (Turbogixxer)
well i am just getting confused now! I don't know enough about this type of thing to understand what you guys are talking about, but this is what i know...
I have the p13 and there is an egr code since i do not have it hooked up. I hear the h22 runs stronger without it anyway. So all i need is a solution to the code, a.k.a. an ecu that doesnt check for egr (p28).
So, is there a way to chip the p13 so it will work? or do i have to chip the p28 to run at h22 settings?
Am I even in the ballpark?

Its not going to change how the thing runs in terms of performance to hook up the EGR valve, trust me. The correct solution would be to hook up the EGR. The easiest solution would be to chip the P28.

Re: (Hybrid93Eg)
Ohh really! I heard that the EGR system slows you down. Well can anyone back this up b/c that would def. be the easier (and cheaper) thing to do!!
thanks

It will not slow you down because it only opens in light load (cruising, city driving).
Hybrid93Eg is right on that aspect.

I just hooked all that crap up on my friends H22 hatch in preperation for the state referee inspection he has to do shortly. I noticed no change whatsoever in performance. As has already been stated, EGR only comes into effect under light loads/cruising. Its designed to lower cylinder temps and reduce emissions.

Re: h22 w/ p28 Q's (alleyezonme)
You better off with a P28 w/Hondata system rather than wasting money on chipping your P28. P28 w/Hondata > any chipped program for H22a.

I'll put my chipped P28 on my friends H22 with Cromepro against your Hondata anyday

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. It's actually cheaper by running something like uberdata or crome. It will run your car as well if not better than a hondata.

Uberdata is free, Crome is not. At least the more "valuable" version is not. The principle behind them is the same as Hondata. I feel that you could achieve the exact same result between the two platforms. It all comes down to how well the person on the other end is.

Thats exactly what i was gonna say.... It almost always comes down to the tuner, if they arent famailar with the software they arent gonna get you anywhere.... Bottom line is anything is better than chipping and ecu and running piggybacks like VAFC's and SAFC's and ****... My motor loves my hondata. I didnt choose it, it happend to come with my swap but i am not unhappy.

Hondata is a very good system. I am not knocking it in any way. I just like more of the "DIY" type of things and figured it was an excellent way to learn how to tune and more about ECU chipping in general.
