h22 v h2b
Hi h-t
me and a friend are going to be building a crx 1/4 car but for fun ,we still want a qick car but not cost the earth, we were chatting about would it be worth going h2b over h22 ?,were trying to keep the base build to around $8000 plus the car , so would investing in a h2b kit realy be worth extra cost and what sort of time diffrence would there be going from a h22a too a h2b s80 box.
thanks

Yep I agree, I've had both and it was like a totally different car after the trans change. The h22 trans gets old after a while especially daily driving it, you start to realize how sluggish the gears are out of vtec, now its peppy in any gear at any rpm around town

Re: h22 v h2b
I ran mid 12's in my 92 civic 4 door. full interior and exhaust. on 25" slicks. stock motor except for a hotshot header and chipped p28. other than that it was completely stock motor.
Our H2B crx ran 12.0 with stock H2B in a Crx. chipped ecu and Ebay header. on 22" slicks.
in comparison our All H22 (H trans) Crx ran 12.5
So yes on average about a .5 difference. lots of other factors can affect this like chassis, weight, mods, Which B trans, final drive..

Overall the B trans will make a very big difference from the H trans.
Its actually more suitable for those who already have a B swap as they only have to buy basically the H longblock and the adapter plate.
But its still worth it for a budget build.
Seriously though if you have $8000 to spend you can go K. More than enough money to build a Very capable K motor. and make a LOT more power than the H2B.
Not a stock K20 but a mildly built K24 with K20 head.
Stock K20 swap is about the same as an H2B powerwise..
K24 just makes a LOT of power.. on fairly simple builds.
