Re: h22 conversion (dsontacchi)
I can speak from experience because I've had hatchbacks with both swaps. In terms of horsepower and torque numbers, the H22 is a way more powerful engine. In terms of performance, the B18c doesn't have the capabilities the H22 has in stock trim. I drag raced both cars with similar setups (suspension, header, exhuast). The fastest I ran on street tires with the B18c was a 14.7 and the fastest I've run with the H22 was a 13.9. Just by bolting in the H22 you will definitely have a faster car. However, the B series motors are way easier to swap in. Also, in terms of cost, once you factor in mounts and all the other variables, they both come out to about the same price. The benefit with the B series is that it bolts right in while the benefit with the H series is a faster car. So which swap to go with is totally up to you. A B series motor with any power adder will be just as fast as an H series. However, an H series with any power adder will dominate. I'm very happy with my H22 hatchback right now. I'm just hoping that it's going to be as reliable as my old B18c hatch. I hope this helps you some.
