has anyone ever took a h22 external coil distributor and gutted it. then took the guts out of a 99si distributor and merge them together?

well i did it to messing around the garage with some spare parts and such. i had to rewire my 98 y8 harness to work with a h22 external coil dizzy. i got to looking and brian storming when i thought of this.(question above) so i took everything apart and did it. i have everything back together. the only thing is i can't test it out cause the motor is not in the car yet.

so has anyone done this before and it work? or am i going to have to find out myself?

now as far as the ckp and the tdc sensor goes i wired them to the factory sensors located at the crank. i could have eliminated this by using the entire guts out of the 99 si dizzy. the only thing that i found different on the inside of the dizzy was the h22 dizzy did not have the holes drilled and tapped for one of the sensors. which is a easy fix.

instead of rambling on and on. tell me what you think.

in this picture is where i removed the four wires (ckp,tdc) from the 99si distributor plug. i also did like wise on the engine harness side.(that comes later)



then those four wire that i took out of the engine harness i extended those down to the sensors on the h22 down here.



here you can see the guts from the 99si dizzy into the h22 housing


down here in this empty hole is where the ckp and the tdc sensors are located in the 99 si dizzy(h22 shown in pic). also is the picture you can see where the holes would have to be drilled and tap to put in the other sensors.
