Default gsr secondaries?

Well I have a lsvtec with a GSR head on it.
My problem is, is that I'm missing the relay that activates the secondaries. I have it wired so it stays closed but once I hit the 5600 or high mark the secondaries barely open.
My question is what am I missing to get the secondaries to completely open?
I was told that I need some kind of box or something that hooks up to the 2 plugs coming from the valve. What is it is called so I can find it some where?

Thanx
Renzema

i guess you're referring to the secondary butterfly vacuum canister (or whatever the proper name is for it) that mounts underneath the dual-stage IM on the GSR.

are you getting a CEL code since you don't have the sensor/canister?
or do you have the canister but it doesn't work right?

if there isn't any vacuum at all the butterflies will stay open all the time. therefore using both the 4 square runners and the 4 round runners of the IM. i personally just plugged the vacuum line going to the secondary butterfly acctuator (SP?) so that the butterflies were open all the time. my setup ran better that way throughout most of the powerband so i left it that way. i'm no longer using the stock GSR IM though.

Well it has some weired wiring on it so that the valve stays closed. I'm not to conserned about it because at the end of this month I'm going to get a skunk 2 manifold. I just wanted to get it to work for the drags this weekend but they got canceled because of rain .
Thanx for the help. Should I just not worry about it and just wait tell the end of the month or should I just get it and stick it on there for the mean time.

So just to explain it better the 2 vaccum valves are hooked up but the box isn't there. Its ran through something else. No sure what it is. I would need the box to get it to work. Which from all the people getting Skunk 2 IM and not needing that any more I don't think it should cost me all that much.

thanx

it should be fairly easy to pick up the stock GSR vacuum device, since quite a few people are using the ITR/Skunk2 IM which eliminates that altogether.

if you want max. performance on the top end for racing til you install your new IM, then just take off and plug the vacuum hose the goes to the secondary butterflies on the IM. this will allow the 2nd butt. to be open all the time. the low end ECU maps aren't set for the extra air flow below 5700 rpm while leaving all 8 butterflies open, but you'll still retain the top end the same which is most important for racing.

i ran a stock P72 ECU, with the 2nd. butterflies open all the time, most of last year without any problems at all. with my setup i actually noticed a difference in midrange performance with all 8 butterflies open.

May be this is a little off topic. We know gsr intake consist 3 sections.
First section is the runner.
Second section is the secondaries.
Third section is the plenum.
My question is: Has anybody remove the second section entirely? Then bolt the plenum back to the runner section.

i was thinking of doing this when i had it apart at the end of last year, but there were a few things that didn't work. i'm trying to remember what they were.

one thing is that the IM support bracket holes wouldn't line up from underneath to support the plenum, not a biggie though. also some of the wires/hoses may need to be streched a bit to reach, once again nothing big. there may be something else i'm forgeting, but it seems that it should work if the 2nd butt. plate is removed completely.
