Getting rid of A/C and P/S on k20a2 engine
Just purchased a rsx type s engine swap for my Eg chassis. Before the swap gets installed I am looking to remove the A/C compressor and P/S pump components on the engine since they wont be able to be used. The problem arises that in doing so, the drive belt off of the crank shaft will become to long and therefore the alternator wont be able to work since its driven off the same belt. I notice that the rsx type r engine does not have A/C compressor or P/S pump mounted on the engine, just direct drive belt to the alternator from the crankshaft. This is what I want, but the parts are not available in the U.S. Anyone know if other k20a engines like the k20a3 have this style system? Any ideas on how to obtain the parts for doing the conversion?
I might just do that. From the looks of what the factory does with the k20a from the type r is use a tensioner/guide inline with the alternator/crank. I dont think that its going to be super critical since the b-series run a straight belt from the crankpulley to the alternator with no slippage.
