first gen b16 in 5th gen civic
I have a freind who is putting a first gen b16a into a 92 civic lx. He unknowing bought the wrong kinda of swap for his car. He paid 1600 for a b16a, Ys1 cable, and a pr3 ecu. the questions i have are as follows; Can he still use his d-series wiring harness w/the addition of a few wires. Also he purchased a hasport hydro/cable conversion, but it came with no directions. Can anyone send some pics or instructions on how to install it. What would be some good options for a ecu,(he has accepted the fact that he wont be able to use the pr3). The only one i could think of was a p72. lastly if somebody can send me a link, pics, or anything on how to wire the ecu (basically all the options of ecu we can use p72, p30, ect), this would be greatly appreciated.
thanx,

1600$?!
you can get a second gen swap for 1700.
tell him to sell it to somebody else that has no idea what they are doing
then buy the correct swap.

He paid $1600 for just the engine, tranny, and ecu??
Yikes!
I agree with KAMiN.
There is too much involved in the "first gen b16a into EG" swap. Its not worth it.
Remember you will need:
obd1 injectors
obd1 dohc vtec ecu
obd1 distributor
The correct motor mounts
hydro to cable conversion
Then you're friend will still need axles and Shift linkage (if all he got was motor/tranny/ecu).

i paid $1,900 for my complete swap......
tell your buddy to sell that engine and buy the rite one, it's going to cost him damn near 3k after all is said and done....usually that swap runs about $1050 complete so he got ripped twice now.....

Damn I have never seen a red/orange tranny before.... Who in the hell would spray paint it that color.... When I do rebuilds i just shoot it cast/gunmetal... I like that a lot better... My friend got his original 1st Gen B16 from HMO with the HaSport mounts for like $1700... It wasn't that bad but a couple months later the thrust washer fell out and destroyed the bottom end.. Latez

$1600? Holy Crap!! My B16a and hydro tranny were only a grand! Suck Just get engine mounts to put the thing in the car, and use a chipped p28 ECU. Works wonders in my car
