f20b Cams
ok so i got a f20b dual cam vtec (sir or whatever) that came from the accord sir... haha
anyway, hmotors informed me that it was originally automatic and im wanting to upgrade my cams because they are weaker or some crap that steve told me... now heres my question(s)
since my compression is roughly 11.1:1 would the S2S2 cams with valvetrain be efficient? only reason i ask is because i just read a thread about h22 cams and how they have lower compression (10.4) and how the stage 2's wouldnt provide much because of the lack of high compression.
or would i be better off with some skunk 2 stage 1's?
i plan on keeping the bottom end un touched for a while and i can take this motor to 8k safely.
thanks
Mike

that's what i've heard too.
when you bought the f20b from hmotors. did you not ask them for one that came from a 5speed? or do you not have a choice? i was planning on getting an f20b from them soon.

well if you notice the f20b on their site is the only motor to say approximate hp..thats thanks to me. I wrote them a nasty email after getting mine and finding out it was a auto. Going back, I would have got the whole maunal swap and sold the tranny and spent about the same cash

i too was looking to buy the f20b from hmotorsonline. thats exactly what i was afraid of, them sending the SiR version instead of the SiR-t. when you call can you demand a SiR-T version? or is it a get what you get kind of deal?
another thing i just thought of, is how can you tell the difference between the Sir and Sir-t versions of the motor by looking at it? i heard only the SiR-t version has the blue valve cover, where the Sir only has the black valve cover. (then again ive also heard this was not true
)

well i emailed them (for those interested in buying an f20b from hmotorsonline.)

Hi,
Thank you for taking an interest in our company. We know they
are SiR-T's because they were pulled out of an SiR-T and also come
with a 5-speed tranny, which we can supply you with if you need. We
also sell the SiR versions for $800 if you would rather have one of
those. If you have any other questions or concerns, please dont
hesistate to give us a call.

Depending of the goals of the car and drivability. I'd say daily driver Skunk2 pro 1's would be a good upgrade. If it's more of a track car/weekend car id say since it's and F20B de stroked H22A the Skunk2 pro 2's may have some nice curves and upper RPM should be nicer on the F20B then the H22A. My guess would be 180 whp with Pro 1's and 200 whp with the pro 2's. Pro 2's take some dialing in.
As far as compression with the skunk2 pro 2's yes it's best for #'s but not necessary a few people have used the skunk2 pro 2's on usdm/jdm stock bottoms and have seen nice #'s 220 whp area on the H22A the big brother...
if you can afford it, it's always best to get the same manufacture's valve springs/retainers with there cams. I would probably stick with the OEM valves if keeping an eye on budget and sticking NA. F20B Blue Top valves are 1 mm smaller then the H22A so finding aftermarket stock sized valves for the F20B may not be an option.
If the F20B came in the Accord SiRT which Accord model was the H23A Blue Top DOHC VTEC in?
Not related but A LOT of people make the mistake of thinking that the F20B Blue Top is more powerful whp/trq then the brother JDM H22A not true. The JDM H22A will put out roughly 20 hp and 20 ft lbs of torque more. The JDM H22A is also cheaper.
