Re: (88ED8)
Here is my personal experience with BOTH kits.
EVO-
Had the Evo full kit on my eg. Ground clearance was horrible. They didnt supply me with enought bolts in my kit.
The overall craftmanship of the kit was flawless. The billet mounts are very nice.
The major problem i had was that my car didnt like to shift once i introduced a stronger pressure plate. I narrowed it down to the design of the extended clutch fork, slave cylinder/ flywheel design. Basically with a stronger pressure plate the clutch was not being allowed to disengage fully to allow it to go through gears at high rpms.
The major design flaw that I saw in the flywheel is that the step on the front of the flywheel (clutch facing) is MUCH MUCH larger than a B series. You would have to take off a few hundred thousandths to get it to where a stock b series flywheel is at. And of course EVO recommends against it . I took 15 thousandths off my step and that didnt do anything.
The first time I called EVO about the problem i got the run around. I was basically told that they have 1000hp race cars running their h2b kits and none of them had a problem.
About 2 months later i called back and reported my above findings to tech support. His exact words were- oh yeah i had the same thing happen with my setup and i had to get a custom pressure plate made. Funny part was that this was the same person i spoke to the first time.
To me that means there is a design flaw, but hey i'm not an engineer . .
Now my kit is one of the older ones, i purchased it a while ago. Randy ( NAH2B) is not having a problem with his EVO kit at all wit a CM stage 4 clutch and pp. So maybe the newer kits have fixed the problem.
QSD-
I have helped install a QSD kit into a friends car. In my eyes, this kit was just designed better. The half shaft design is what sold it for me. i always had trouble getting my half shaft into the trans with the EVO design and the QSD was a piece of cake. The instructions were ridiculously clear. I mean they were very thought out. The bolts were individually packaged and had labels on to where each one went.
The only thing i didnt like was that i didnt understand the way the starter bolt went behind the plate and you had to grind a dowel pin down to get everything to sit flush. We had to take the trans off a few times just to get those things right. That is partly my fault for assuming i knew what i was doing haha.
The only other thing is that you definitely have to grind MORE off the block for the qsd kit, but its at an angle where you are essentially just taking more of the "meat" off the block and less of the oil pan which is a great thing in my eyes. .
After seeing the quality of the QSD kit, not to mention the fact that it uses a B series clutch fork and allows the use of ANY b series flywheel, I have made the decision to switch to QSD.
Is the evo kit bad? no not at all. It will work great for 99% of cars tha will probably use it. For my application i feel that it will not work out as well.
Now if i can only get someone at QSD to return my emails . .

Re: (2fastGSR)
yea, i saw NAH2B and i like how his ground clearance is and it seems like he has no complaint's about the evo kit. damn, after what you've said, i don't knoe which kit to get anymore. i also have a questions, do i use a b series starter or a h series starter?

Re: (jaw0885)
nice nice good information. But have any of those companies have high boost set up or is it basically N/A???
I know I pmd mr. 88ed8 (he knows alot about H2b!!!). It's basically comes down to flywheel spacer vs flywheel. Flywheel seems really safe to me but alot of people said flywheel spacer is stronger than the evo kit's flywheel.
Now for 30+psi... which of those kits are stronger for boost application?
sorry, just got into H2B
