Erratic Speedometer after CKF delete/fix.
I have a 2001 5speed manual CR-V.
I had to replace the engine. (spun a bearing. don't ask me how, i was completely surprised cause it was running perfectly and i was on top of the maintenance.)
I got a B20B (high compression with knock sensor) from JDM florida in orlando. I swapped over my stock OBD2B "box" intake m anifold.
runs fine. no issues with the engine itself.
had to do the CKF bypass cause it's a JDM engine and they don't have the crank sensor on the oil pump. (duh lol).
so i did the step-by-step on FFSquad.com
.:FFS TechNet:. » ECU & WIRING How-To Articles » CKF Bypass Trick
^^that link there.
i have it so that BOTH inputs are spliced together and BOTH outputs are spliced together. (input wire for CKF cut after splice as well.)
that worked great. no more code lol
weeeelllllllll....... then my speedo started being "funny".
upon hard acceleration it can become "optimistic" as my friend likes to call it.
it will jump higher and go "crazy" for a bit and then go back to normal.
I am 99.999% certain it's not the gauges because it also screws with my cruise control if it happens while i'm using it. it will drop the "cruise" cause the signal changed and i guess it just doesn't know what to do.
the sensor works, i checked the plug and it's fine.
so i'm a bit stumped.
the only thing i've currently come up with so far is that MAYBE (just maybe) having both inputs feeding into the same wire is now putting a bit too much voltage into the harness and it's bleeding over into the speed sensor from the tach in the distributor. that and i know they are linked SOMEHOW cause i can sometimes get the speedo to "jump" a bit while out of gear by stomping the gas to get the engine to rev quickly. i am lost a little and would rather not screw this up before i have a better idea of how to approach this.
i did look a bit and couldn't really find a post that is like this.
please help, thanks.
i have bosch platinum+2's for plugs. NGK wires. stock distributor.
it runs really rich for some reason also, but that's not the main issue.

Re: Erratic Speedometer after CKF delete/fix.
well this is frustrating. no one seems to have any input.
anyway i'll summarize that a bit better:
i am having an issue with my speedo.
it goes whacko when i'm accelerating quickly.
this was after the crank fluctuation sensor removal trick for a JDM engine swap.
it seems to be linked to my tach in some way because at idle when i stomp the throttle, the speedo moves a little bit when i'm parked. i think it's electrical feedback from the CKF trick.
someone? anyone?
