Thats what project cars are, project. I had a 81 accord that i was going to fabricate a B16 into but never got the time to and just sold it for the crx. But it would have been hella fun with that car. I vote for the B18.

Re: engine swap in old civic????????????????? (sk8ordie)
i do have the tegra manuel cause i have a 97 civic and its the same manuel.....and also im a welder at work....so thats nothing really....i have the motor and the wiring and tranny......just i dont want to put more money in the body thatit is worth.....thats why.....i know i have to weld in all my mounts.....i checked and the 83 seems to be about 4 inches narrower from tire to tire....the cv shaft nuts seem the same size.......so im hoping the cv shaft will fit....cause that one departement that i dont really want to screw up and have to make custom shafts....if so i would rather just forget the idea....

Check out Kennewickimports.vista.com I got a few pics on there. I saw it a Hot Import NIght and I talked to the guy. One had the City motor and another had a D16Z6 in it. They were both pretty clean. I got my dealer looking for the motor right now

You may need to order custom axle shafts -maybe visit your local driveshaft shop or check out Mark Williams enterprises. Maybe start looking into building your own hybrid shafts after you've determined what the length needs to be. In all Helm's manuals, in the transmission section, there is a free length spec. for axle length.
Look at 86-89 Integra's - they are on the short side, also 84-87 Civic/CRX's - the right hand axle.
Honda has been pretty consistant with their axle shaft spline size (not to be confused with the joint spline size) so it won't be too tough to make up your own if possible.
I vote B18C as long as it's sitting around.
