Default which engine for EE8 ( EF8 )

Hello,

i will to install a new engine.
Can you help me to make the decision?
B16A
or
B18C5
or
K20A2
or
B20Z with Vtec
The install should be a good Base for the Turbo projekt.

Thx Speedy8)

All wastes of money (imo). I know people are gonna fire back, but here's what I think personally...

-B16 is good, never had problems, and responds well to mods. Plus VTec rips new buttholes, lol.
-B18C5 extremely overrated and overpriced. We have a local who has a FULLY BUILT type r motor only running 13.5 in an EF. Type r's are only good for stock swaps, not to modify the **** out of. But again, he is all motor, no turbo, so I guess a turbo will help. But it's not gonna go far.
-K20A2 is also overrated and overpriced. H22 still give the k20 a run for it's money, not to mention, it's a fraction of the price. H2b kit will put you in the 12's bone stock, easily in the 11's with tune and basic bolt ons.
-B20's are cool, but they have very thing walls, plus on top of that, I don't know if you're going to just drag the car, but you cannot ref a b20 'cuz it came out of a light truck/suv so there's no way possible to do it.

Just my .02 cents. Let me know what you decide to go with. No matter what anyone says, including me, go with the motor YOU feel more comfortable with. I was just letting you know some info on PERSONAL experience. This info is not from a forum somewhere or someone else, PERSONAL experience from me!

Anyone else feel free to debate or agree!

I would stick with a b series since that is what came in the car, I dont know of any mount company's that make k kits for jdm/edm cars that had b series stock. the brackets for the engine mounts are in a different position than the d series cars that mount kits were designed for

IMO get a b16 and build the sh#T out of it and you'll get to the high 12 low 13's

I say keep the B16A and build the internals since you already have the motor.

lol @ H series will give the K a run for it's money. You haven't been in a K powered ef.. Obviously.
K series all the way... Its just money, after all...

I'm just wondering why threads like this wouldn't be allowed... It's a forum, with about a million threads.

At first thx to all.

I wanted your personal preference....... cause this is what helps me on.
My ambition is to be under the 12s.
I thing i should stay in the B Series.

And H22A can most definitely give a K20A a run for the money.

The motor's cheaper to buy in the first place, and it's cheaper to build.

However, the build will be fraught with weird difficulties that the original poster has probably never considered. There's more than one occasion I've been in a race paddock with people trying to grind away parts of the bodywork that are causing belts to fly off on the track.

If you have the time to think it through completely, an H will give a K a run for the money, especially considering the $/HP ratio. But it's not going to be as easy as other things that could be done.

My personal old guy opinion is that a basically stock 160 HP B16 would be a joy to drive in an old Honda that's being used for daily transportation.

I think his thread was turned into a benchracing thread by the responders not by him, so with that said his question is valid if you stop trying to compare what each motor will run in the 1/4 and focus on which would be the easiest install with the best results for the money invested. and i agree with the above poster who said stay with the B series since that is what your car came with, this will save you money. Upgrade the rods and pistons and purchase or put together a decent turbo set up, 300 whp would be easy to hit.
EDIT seems a mod cleaned up all the benchracing comments while i was posting this, nice clean up job mod looks good

OK.

so on..if we stay in the B series

B16A or B18C5 or B20 + V-Tec ?

now i have an B16A with 205 hp

B18C5 is a better series engine with jdm 190hp

B20 is the biggest block but is it also the best?

thx Speedy 8)
