eg h22 dynoed today
I will have the graph up soon as i get it scanned.
h22 in a civic eg
166.45 whp- 124.19 TQlbs
mods
Fake - j"s racing
Prospeed header
Apexi- exaust no cat
AEM EMS
hitting 150 on 3 first dyno's
then we figured the butterfly valve was staying closed due to the AEM not being able to control. fixed that with a screw and that's what it laid down.
compression is 155- across that's why i think it laid shitty numbers
looking for intake manifold
<skunk 2> i heard it won't fit in the EG
looking at JG engine dynamics intake manifold?
should hit over 170's with that.
after june 21st doing engine rebuild?

Costing an arm and a leg? Hardly.
When you do the compression test (if you dont have a leakdown tester) pour a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder then test. If your compression shoots way up, your rings are shot. If it stays the same, its something in your valvetrain.
If its your rings, spend around $300 for OEM pistons and rings, get the walls rehoned and drop em in. Its under a $500 job if you do it yourself.

Re: (92 CIVIC HATCH VX)
hmm, my jdm is about 125 accross, but feels alot stronger than 155 whp.
I will be doing a dyno in about 2 weeks, so we'll see what happens as far as my numbers are concerned

just for comparison, my bone stock (well, intake, exhaust, no PS or AC but stock other than that) USDM H22A4 pulled 169 whp with ~220PSI across all four cylinders. I cranked the motor three times per cylinder on the comp test so those numbers might be a little high. I would think you guys need to check your piston rings. that would be my primary suspect.

Every compression tester is different. Altitude, Engine temp, throttle opening, fuel in the system, and cam selection all play a part in compression test readings.

Re: (LsVtec92Hatch)
I will check when i get back from running.
if it's the rings. can i use type-s pistons and rings? i'm going all motor till september, then turbo.
if the the sides of the walls are not scared i won't need to hone right?
I will need your guys help doing this one step at a time.
tonight i will check with oil tonight.
i have never done a piston swap but this is my 3rd car i own so it can sit, i feel if i take my time i can get it done one step at a time.
keep posting guy thanks for all the help.

Re: (92 CIVIC HATCH VX)
that motor needs some TLC before anything.....Rotieatter made like 191 on h/i/e and uberdata .....check your compression and your oil pan for metal!

Be careful on the hone job. H22 blocks have FRM lined cylinder walls, you don't want to take too much off.
But since you're in there, might as well invest in some Type S pistons and a4 rods.

Re: (Finest)
yeah my compression jumped to 185 after i put a cap full of oil in so the rings are toasted....
i unhooked battery and unpluged altenator and took valve cover off?
i 'm looking for the head bolts? i will pick up a 94 prelude chilton and order a helms this week.
next i'm
1. draining oil
2. draining radiator fluid
3 removing radiator and cleaning the crap out of it the guy before me drove out on dirt roads and there is dirt caked in it.
4. taking exaust off
5 droping oil pan.
6 taking altenator belt off and timing belt off.
that should be part of my week before the weekend.
Part i'm buying so far.
1. type-s pistons& <stock rings> i guess
i will not know if i need to hone until i get the pistons out and look at the wall for scaring
2. fluids
a. Amsoil 10w-30
b. perstone 50/50 with redline water wetter.
3.timing belt
4. alenator belt
5.water pump
6.h23 manual tenstioner coversion is what i heard to also do?
7.Cam Gears <AEM>
should i take pics for you guys?
If this turns out big please let me know how to fix and i will.
Also suggestions
Someone said A4 rods? what are those?

why would you want to?
rods aren't really a weak point on H22s, from what I've seen
