Default ecu question

whats the exact difference between automatic and standard ecu's ? P75 to be exact . Like say im putting a engine in a 5 spd car i'm sure a automatic ecu will run the motor , but will i have any problems ?

it will run but with a check engine light. the ecu helps control the shifting of the auto tranny.

off the top of my head, i dont think there are any fuel map diffrences. but i could be wrong. thats a question better left to someone who knows the maps.

As far as I know, AT & MT maps slightly differ. AT ecu's are tuned to have better lowend power.

This guy I know, dyno tested a 5speed & AT B16A PR3 ecu's and the AT ecu actually made a little more power over the 5speed ecu. It wasn't much but his lowend-midrange was slightly better.

But if you didn't know, an AT P75 can be easily be reprogrammed to 5speed spec. You should be getting a code 19 if you run the ecu in a 5speed vehicle, but other than that code and an ealier redline, it will run the car no problem.
