Default ECU Question

I have a 2001 B18C1 installed in my EJ8.
I need to know if a obd2a ecu will run my motor or will I have to get the immobilizer on my obd2b ecu bypassed? I've also read where members have mentioned a jumper harness if a jumper harness is needed will them come into play when I get my car BARD?

By the way what is the function of the immobilizer and what causes the immobilizer to engage?

I don't think you will get BAR'd if you have an OBD2b engine with an OBD2a ecu. They are very picky about this crap. You can use the OBD2a ecu in the car without the immobilizer and it will work. The immobilizer is just an anti-theft unit that disables fuel pump at start up among other things.
