Does a 94+ GSR block require external oil lines with a B16 head?
I have a first gen B16 in my rex right now, I was contemplating slapping my head on a 94+ gsr block. Is this possible? Does it require external oil lines, or are the oil routings the same between the two. I have read that this produces good results in an EG+ model, and I figure that some parts may have to be switched out between the blocks for the OBD0. I figure it may be more efficient compared to an LS. Let me know, I tried the search but couldn't really find a valid answer. Thanks.

The B16A head is a direct bolt-on to the GSR block. There is no need to run any external oil lines or anything like that. Both the block and head are B series VTEC so it's interchangeable.

Anymore issues I should know about as far as clearance, crank angle sensor, fitment? Let me know some disadvantages of this setup in a 91 CRX.

You will have lower compression if you keep the stock gsr pistons in the block. Someone also mentioned about match porting the block to the head. I'm planning on doing this same step soon as I find a gsr block. But I plan on boring the the block out to 2.0 Oh yeah you don't have to run any external oil lines like a LS/VTEC both gsr block and b16a heads are compatable.

Good, I do not like external oil lines, I will probably go with some CTR pistons if I do it. Thanks.

Doing the EXACT same thing in my Integra right now, B18C block mated to 1st gen B16 head with GSR cams/valvetrain. True you will lose about .2 compression points, but with my Turbo- it should work to my advantage.

Judging by your avatar I assume you have a DA (90-93), what ecu are you going to use?

B18C1/B18C block with B16A head is nothing more then poorsman ITR setup (ITR is a B18C1 block with higher c/r pistons + p&P B16A head).
its all a bolt on and works very well, use B16A pistons to up the c/r otherwise GSR/b18c1 oem pistons will be @ around 9.8:1 (kind of low).
yes its much better choice then LS bottom end
