Default D16Z6 Work

Has anyone successfull put a different head on a d16z6? Such as DOHC? If so, which ones will fit. Also where could I get P&P'd heads? Thanks!

You cannot put a DOHC head on an SOHC block.

Do a simple search and you will find tons of threads about reputable shops that do p&p'd heads.

Isnt a ZC a dual cam on a SOHC block?

Of course you can find shops that will do P&P with "simple research"....I was wondering if anyone has a shop that they have in mind....

There are two different ZC motors, a single cam and a dual cam.

Portflow is a good reputable shop. If you want an idea on other shops to choose from use the search feature, that is what it is there for.

put a d16y8 head on your z6 block with the y8 head gasket and you will get higher compression (about 1.0 to 1.3 higher). A ZC is a d series yes but the ZC block was meant to have the dohc head on it d16 a6,z6,y8,b2,b7 etc. etc. were not. The ZC is similar looking to the USDM 86-89 integra motors but different on the performance aspect. Look towards Gude for sohc heads and packages. I used to be a mini me guy But I've went to bigger and better things The H series!!!!!!!!

Would that new compression level be too high for forced induction?

The z6 head flows better than the y8 head. No the compression level would not be too high using the y8 gasket.

You may be right but a small port to the exuast side of the y8 head and the y8 head would be all around better. The intake ports are the same size on z6 & y8. The y8 head gasket is thinner than the z6 head gasket. He would probably sittin at 10.8:1 - 11.1:1 not exactly sure on the measurement.

How did you come up with that compression ratio? Y8 stock compression is like 9.6:1.....

Yes 9.6 on the y8 block but, on the z6 block the piston rises higher in the combustion chamber than on the y8 block. The z6 head has a more domed combustion chamber and higher piston rise as the y8 has a more flat combustion chamber and lower piston rise. So if you put the flat combustion chamber on the block with higher piston rise you get higher compression. I mean piston to block deck not stroke when I say rise.
