Default d16z6 engine swap

hey, i got a 1990 civic dx 1.5, and im i have the block and head from a 1992 civic si vtec(d16z6) and i know the block will work with no problems, but i wanted to know if i can use the vtec head but with out using the vtec, i just wanna hook it up to the intake manifold in the dx, its just my winter car so i dont wanna put to much cash in it... some one please help me out with this.

well for a cheap vtec activator you can use a msd activator.....check out the hybrid board..http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/4gtech.html
