Default D16Y8...

Okay... I'm from the '92-'00 Civic forum and that's what I'm familiar with.

Now, before anyone gets the wrong idea, I am not looking to do this swap. It's more of a, "How could this happen?" type of question. The idea was quickly abandoned by him.

A friend recently brought up the idea of swapping a D16Y8 (automatic, nonetheless) into a 1990 Accord.

Does anyone have any idea how this could even be done? I know it'd require custom mounts and such for one and the transmission sounds nearly impossible since it's an auto. Would it really make it much more possible of a swap if it were manual?

It really would be pointless. That car would be a turd, and it would be worse than the F22 that is in there.

i agree it would be garbage but considering that f22 has a warped crankshaft and rod through the block, I'm just trying to get it driving again so my buddy can have a car that gets decent mileage instead of his measly 12mpg in his pickup.

If you really wanted to get it running again, just swap in a f22,simple and straight forward. As RedneckDave suggested it would be pointless downgrading to a 1.6.

dont the older accords have the 3rd mount in the front?

doesnt seem to hard.........if it was manual it would work some how extensive wiring..d16y8 ecu.......

auto there is no chance.....the way the ecu controls the trasnmissons are totally diffrent..........
