Default D15Z - What D Head Will Fit that block??????

Ok I'm using my brother account here to figure this out. I just picked up a 93 Hatch with LOW miles and a D15Z E-Tech engine. Anyway the intelligent guy that owned it prior miss shifted into first instead of third and dropped every exhaust valve. Anyway I have a D15b7 that has 400k miles on it *all of them unfortunate* but the head is good. Also have a few other D series heads I can get my hands on. Anyway what all heads will fit this engine and with what other modifications? Basically looking for a drop on head.

the engine is a D15z1 vtec-e. I know for a fact a y8 or z6 head will not work on this block b/c it'll yield crazy low compression, so i'd start by figuring out the size of the combustion chambers of the b7 head vs a z6 head. If the chambers of the a6 are smaller than a z6 head it'll have higher compression and may work, if they're larger it'll have even lower compression..try to find a d series compression calculator to help you out. you have a horrible engine as far as stuff like this is concerned, good luck

just read that a6's have a 38cc combustion chamber and the z6 has a 34.6cc chamber, so the a6 will give you even lower compression

also, just an fyi, the reason why z1's are so hard to swap heads on is b/c they have crazy dish pistons and tiny combustion chambers, so anything with larger combustion chambers drops your c/r to ****.....

welp i got the car for free and the head is shot so im trying to do this cheaply as possible for a dd. i dont care if it has problems keeping up with a garbage truck. basically i need terrific gas mileage with just enough power to move itself

I doubt that a 1.5L d series with ~8:1 compression and a vx transmission could keep up with a tricycle lol
i highly suggest rebuilding that head...

haha that's funny...
seriously tho, you may really want to look into what the c/r would be with a different head on, b/c from what I remember in my D series days is that it's insanely low
